In accordance with the Dude Rancher’s Association guidelines, the minimum number of nights needed to book a Powderhorn stay during our peak season (June to October) is 3 nights.
Check in time is after 3:00pm and check-out time is at 10:00am.
In general, the Powderhorn offers a laidback atmosphere with an emphasis on free time to spend as you wish. Daily activities are also available for those who with to participate! Please see our Things To Do page for a sampling of possible activities and reach out to our team to coordinate our offerings with your vacation style! In addition to ranch activities, the Douglas area boasts several pioneer era historical sites which may be of interest. Ask us about local attractions and we’d be glad to give you pointers.
The Powderhorn typically offers horseback rides 3x/week to best manage our horses’ health and well-being. On the horses’ days off, non-riding horse experiences such as grooming, touring the herd on pasture, and horse training demonstrations can be made available.
Contact our hospitality team to inquire about availability and booking opportunities. To gain a sense of our availability, the majority of our events and bookings will be shown on our calendar page. Please note that open calendar dates do not guarantee booking availability. And, an event already being listed does not automatically preclude additional bookings with overlapping dates. All reservations are taken on an individual basis by email or phone with our team members.
If you wish to join a specific event or group that is listed on our Events Calendar page, you will need to contact the event facilitator listed at the bottom of that event’s description.
The nearest airports are in Casper, Wyoming (Natrona County Intl, airport code CPR) and Denver, Colorado (Denver Intl, airport code DEN). The ranch is approximately a 1 hour 20 minute drive from the Casper airport and a 4 hour drive to the Denver airport.
Airport pickups and drop-offs from CASPER ONLY are available at a rate of $75/person each way. Please email us at hospitality@wyodiamond.com to confirm pickup and dropoff times a week before your arrival! If you haven’t heard back from us or you have flight delays, call us at 307-298-5461. We do not offer transportation to-and-from the Denver airport.
Traveling South on I-25, take the LaPrele Creek Exit (#146) and turn right at the end of the ramp, then immediately left. Stay on this frontage road (state hwy 96) for about 3 miles until you reach the intersection with Cold Springs Road, marked as state Hwy 91. Turn right onto the Cold Springs Road and continue straight until you reach the end of the pavement (approximately 25 to 30 minutes). At the end of the pavement, you will continue straight on the dirt road for approximately 1/2 mile and watch for an iron Powderhorn Ranch sign and a gravel turn-in on your right-hand side. Turn right at the sign, over the cattleguard and stay straight on the pink gravel road, winding through the creekbottom and crossing two bridges. At the T intersection at the second bridge, turn right and you will be taken directly to the red mechanic shop and stone-sided Heritage House and Main House!
Traveling North on I-25, exit towards Douglas, WY at Exit #140. At the end of a long ramp is an intersection with a stop light; turn right onto Riverbend Road. On your right, watch for Esterbrook Road (state hwy 94) and turn right, passing under the interstate. On your right in about 1 mile, turn right onto Chalk Buttes Road (county 9) and continue for about 4 miles until you reach the intersection with Cold Springs Rd (state hwy 91). Turn left here onto Cold Springs Rd and continue until the pavement ends- approximately 20 minutes. At the end of the pavement, you will continue straight on the dirt road for approximately 1/2 mile and watch for an iron Powderhorn Ranch sign and a gravel turn-in on your right-hand side.
